Ryan Dunn previously served as grants manager at the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (WDATCP) within the Division of Agricultural Development.

Dunn inherits business operations responsibilities from Sara Schmidt, who will now serve as the association’s member engagement manager, leading membership development and driving engagement in WCMA trainings and programs.
These current and future dairy professionals have been selected to receive a total of $19,000 in scholarship funds in 2023.

Over 26 years, WCMA has awarded the Myron P. “Mike” Dean Cheese Industry Student Scholarship to 46 students affiliated with dairy manufacturers and processors. In 2023, this scholarship will be awarded to Lizzette Lopez and Tyler Schroepfer.
The reimbursement grants of up to $100,000 each aim to support recipients in diversifying on-farm activity, creating value-added products, enhancing dairy byproducts, and creating or enhancing dairy export programs.

Businesses in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin may apply for the funding, which is administered by the Center for Dairy Research (CDR) and the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association (WCMA).
Six proposals were endorsed by the 21-member board of directors.

Dairy product manufacturers in five Midwestern states may prepare now to apply for a new $1 million round of grants to be administered by the Dairy Business Innovation Alliance (DBIA), a partnership between the Center for Dairy Research (CDR) and the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association (WCMA).
The alliance’s Dairy Business Builder grant program aims to encourage small- to medium-sized dairy farmers, entrepreneurs and processors in the Upper Midwest to pursue innovative projects.

The Dairy Business Innovation Alliance (DBIA), a partnership between the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association (WCMA) and the Center for Dairy Research (CDR) at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, announced the 38 companies and cooperatives that were selected to receive Dairy Business Builder grants totaling $1.7 million.
