The U.S. Dairy Export Council (USDEC) and National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF) sharply criticized Canada’s allocation of its tariff-rate quotas (TRQ) under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), released on June 15.

After three years of negotiations, the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) will take effect on July 1. The U.S. dairy industry achieved its top two goals for USMCA, preserving our trade relationships in Mexico, our top export market, and reducing Canadian barriers to imported U.S. dairy products.
Most tariffs on dairy products and ingredients will decrease by 50% or more.

U.S. dairy supplies available for international distribution remain ample, making targeted food-aid shipped worldwide a promising avenue for helping populations struggling with localized hunger and the coronavirus crisis.
