With milk production forecast to grow over the next 12 months and consumption taking time to recover, global market fundamentals are expected to remain weak into quarter two 2021, according to “A Delicate Rebalancing,” a quarter-three 2020 Global Dairy Quarterly report from Rabobank.

A bipartisan group of 25 senators sent a letter on Aug. 26 identifying challenges with implementing several dairy-related provisions in the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).
IDFA encouraged the administration to continue to pursue a trade agreement with the African continent’s seventh-largest economy, but voiced its concern for Kenya’s protectionist measures over its dairy sector.

In a letter to U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer regarding trade negotiations between the governments of the United States and Kenya, the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) said a U.S.-Kenya agreement has the potential to provide tangible market access for U.S. food and agricultural exports to Kenya’s growing economy.
Dairy organizations said the Japanese market is too valuable to U.S. processors, dairy farmers to delay.
