Irish dairy cooperative Ornua said it completed the acquisition of U.S. cheese ingredients business Whitehall Specialties Inc., Whitehall, Wis., for an undisclosed sum from Mason Wells, a private equity firm based in Milwaukee. 

TC Transcontinental Packaging, Chicago said it opened its ASTRA Center — the Art, Science and Technology Research and Applications Center — based in Menasha, Wis.

Danone Institute North America, a not-for-profit established by White Plains, N.Y.- and Broomfield, Colo.-based Danone North America, announced the five winning teams of the "One Planet. One Health" Initiative — a grant program that promotes resilient and sustainable local food systems.

(DMI), the Rosemont, Ill.-based dairy checkoff program that drives trust and sales of dairy products on behalf of America’s 31,000 dairy farm families and importers, announced that Tom Gallagher decided to conclude his 30-year tenure as CEO to devote more time to teaching and other opportunities. 

The Kraft Heinz Co., headquartered in Pittsburgh and Chicago, said it entered into an agreement to acquire Companhia Hemmer Indústria e Comércio (Hemmer), a Brazilian company focused on condiments and sauces.
