It seems that butter producers picked their numbers wisely. The cooking staple and flavor booster continues to show positive growth, with dollar sales of butter/butter blends up 1.3% (to $3,131.4 million) and unit sales jumping 2.5% (to 840.6 million) during the 52-week period ending Aug. 11, 2019, according to data from Chicago-based market research firm IRI.
The 2020 World Championship Cheese Contest is now accepting entries of cheese, butter, yogurt and dry dairy ingredients now through Jan. 31 at WorldChampionCheese.org.
On Nov. 12, Dean Foods Co. said it and substantially all of its subsidiaries initiated voluntary Chapter 11 reorganization proceedings in the Southern District of Texas. Dairy industry groups, including the Washington, D.C.-based International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) and Dairy Management Inc. (DMI), Rosemont, Ill., issued statements the same day in reaction to the news.
The officers will lead national dairy checkoff strategies and programs.

The International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) said it is seeking applicants for its 2020 summer internship, which will offer one undergraduate or recent graduate firsthand experience with the association’s advocacy efforts on dairy policy with lawmakers on Capitol Hill and federal officials in regulatory agencies.
The organizations said ratification of the USMCA – TMEC by the United States Congress is vital to strengthen the promising future of the milk and dairy sectors of Mexico and the United States.

On Oct. 23, the representatives of the organizations of milk producers and the dairy processors of Mexico, including Asociación Nacional de Ganaderos Lecheros, Confederación Nacional de Organizaciones Ganaderas, Gremio de Productores Lecheros de la Republica Mexicana, and Cámara Nacional de Industriales de la Leche, and the representatives of the organizations of milk producers of the United States, including National Milk Producers Federation and U.S. Dairy Export Council, issued the following statement on their fourth annual meeting:
