siggi’s launches new Protein Packs for on-the-go nutrition
New skyr flavors contain 11 grams of protein per pouch.

New York-based siggi’s, a brand of French dairy company Lactalis, introduced new Protein Packs, available in two flavors: Blueberry Pomegranate and Strawberry Acai.
The Icelandic-style yogurt (skyr) is known for its simple ingredients, high protein content, and low sugar content. The Protein Packs contain 11 grams of protein per pack and are crafted with real fruit and no artificial flavors or added sweeteners, the company says. Additionally, the convenient, mess-free packaging makes them an ideal option for on-the-go nutrition.
Siggi’s was founded in 2005 by Siggi Hilmarsson, who was homesick for a childhood staple in his diet: skyr. The thick, creamy, high-protein yogurt from his native Iceland wasn’t available on store shelves in the U.S., so Hilmarsson began making skyr from his New York apartment with a recipe sent by his mother.
While siggi’s is made in a similar way to yogurt, the recipe requires approximately four times the milk, according to the company. The straining process creates an end product that has a thicker, creamier texture than other yogurts, despite the nonfat nature of the milk.
Available at Whole Foods Market stores nationwide, siggi’s Protein Packs retail for $1.99 per 4.5-ounce pouch.
