Moocho, Hood River, Ore., said it launched its new dairy-free Moocho “cheese” shreds in H-E-B stores throughout Texas, with more retailers to come in early 2021. The shreds are available in flavors such as Mozzarella, Cheddar and Fiesta Blend; they are crafted with simple ingredients and apply fermented cultures and aging techniques used in traditional cheesemaking.
Moocho shreds are vegan, 100% non-GMO and gluten-free, and they contain 0% cholesterol. The offerings are made to melt and stretch as well as traditional dairy-based cheese, Moocho said. The shreds come in 8-ounce bags and have a suggested retail price of $4.99.
“We’re excited to announce our distribution with H-E-B and offer consumers in the Texas area the opportunity to be some of the first to taste our new plant-based ‘cheese’ shreds, which we can confidently say are a game-changer for the category,” said Jaime Athos, president and CEO of Moocho and its sister brand, Tofurky. “We heard consumers were eager for delicious, affordable and accessible plant-based options, and we believe we have filled the gap in what consumers are looking for and what was previously offered.”
