Ben & Jerry's, Burlington, Vt., added more nondairy flavors to its lineup. Its latest offerings are sunflower butter-based frozen desserts. According to the company, the new products deliver on the full Ben & Jerry's experience with loads of chunks and swirls, while providing an alternative to the existing almond-based lineup.
As the first national brand to offer sunflower butter pints to the public and at its Scoop Shops, Ben & Jerry's said it hopes to continue to spread the nondairy love. The pints feature bright yellow lids and packaging adorned with the bold summer flowers.
According to Ben & Jerry’s, the three new nondairy flavors include "Milk" & Cookies, which is a vanilla nondairy frozen dessert with chocolate chip cookies, chocolate sandwich cookies and chocolate cookie swirls; Crème Brûlée Cookie, which is a burnt caramel nondairy frozen dessert with brown sugar cookies and salted caramel swirls; and Mint Chocolate Cookie, which is a mint nondairy frozen dessert with chocolate sandwich cookies. An additional flavor will be available at Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shops: Cold Brew Coffee Fudge Chip, a cold-brew coffee nondairy frozen dessert with fudge flakes and a fudge swirl.
"Plant-based eating is one of the biggest trends in the world, and ice cream lovers everywhere have shouted for nondairy/vegan options that rise to the levels of Ben & Jerry's euphoric awesomeness," said CEO Matthew McCarthy. "I am over-the-moon excited that our flavor gurus have churned out something funky and chunky that is nothing short of spectacular."
For fans on the go, Ben & Jerry's said it also is launching almond-based nondairy Mini Cups. The format features one scoop in a convenient portion-controlled pack. The Mini Cups come in two flavors: P.B. & Cookies, which is a vanilla nondairy frozen dessert with chocolate cookies and peanut butter, and
Caramel Chocolate Chunk, which is a caramel nondairy frozen dessert with fudge chips and a salted caramel swirl. The latter is a brand new flavor available in only the mini cup format.
Ben & Jerry’s said the sunflower butter flavors are now available on grocery shelves across the United States and in Scoop Shops. The pints have a suggested retail price of $4.48 to $5.99. Almond-based Mini Cups will ship to stores this spring.
