The Wisconsin Dairy Products Association (WDPA) said Friday, July 20 is the registration deadline for the 2018 World Dairy Expo Championship Dairy Product Contest. All companies entering products in this contest must mail their entry forms to WDPA at 8383 Greenway Blvd., Middleton, WI 53562; fax them to 608-836-3334; or email them to info@wdpa.net by this date.
Last year’s contest received almost 1,500 entries from companies in North America and Europe, WDPA said. This year’s contest promises to be even bigger with 85 product classes. The World Dairy Expo Championship Dairy Product Contest is the fastest-growing contest in the history of all dairy product contests.
A company may submit as many entries as it wishes, WDPA said. Once a company has submitted its entry forms and fees, it must ship its contest entries during the week of August 13-17, 2018.
All cheese, butter, yogurt, sour cream, cottage cheese, sour cream based-dips, buttermilk, whipping cream and fluid milk entries will be shipped to the Midwest Refrigerated Services in McFarland, Wis. — while ice cream, sherbet, dried whey products and creative/innovative technology entries will be shipped to Madison Area Technical College (MATC).
Judging will take place on the following dates, WDPA said:
- August 21 — cheese and butter.
- August 22 — Yogurt, cottage cheese, sour cream, fluid milk, buttermilk, sour cream-based dips and whipping cream.
- August 23 — ice cream, sherbet, whey products and creative/innovative technologies.
After judging is concluded, all winners will be notified. The winning entries will then be auctioned off on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wis. A portion of the auction proceeds will be used to fund the scholarships that will be awarded to students pursuing careers in the dairy industry, WDPA noted.
Companies that did not receive an entry form or would like more information should contact WDPA at 608-836-3336 or via email at info@wdpa.net. Complete contest information can be found at www.wdpa.net.
