Arla Foods has introduced blue cheese slices to the United States, just in time for the Memorial Day weekend, the official start of the outdoor grilling season.
Arla Foods USA, a division of the European giant Arla, is marketing the cheese as Castello Burger Blue. The company says the slices “are cut to be the perfect match for a standard burger.” Høgelund Dairy in Denmark is producing the cheese.
Arla Foods USA Managing Director Asger Drewes Jorgensen said the the Castello brand has been growing more than twice as fast as the overall speciality cheese market in the United States in the last 12 months. “We believe the Burger Blue launch will add to the growth of Castello in America,” he said.
The product is merchandised at major selected retailers nationwide, placed near the ground beef section.
