ProYo, a frozen yogurt company, Santa Barbara, Calif., is launching a high-protein, frozen yogurt in squeezable tubes in May.
Each tube contains 20 grams of milk protein, live active probiotic cultures, plus added fiber. It contains 160 calories per 4-pounce squeeze tube. The frozen pops come four flavors — vanilla bean, banana vanilla, blueberry pomegranate and Dutch chocolate. It will be sold individually for a suggested retail price of $2.79 and in 3-packs for $7.45.
The company is marketing the new product as a nutritious “anytime frozen treat.” It is low in fat and sugar, is gluten- and soy-free, rBST- and rBGH-free, a good source of fiber, and contains no artificial colors or flavors.
Each ProYo tube delivers an estimated 200 billion live probiotic cultures, and provides 20% of an adult’s suggested daily calcium requirement, according to the company.
ProYo will be made available at Whole Foods Northern California in May and in other natural food stores along the West Coast by this summer.
