Ben & Jerry's announced last week it would temporarily be renaming its iconic Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream to “I Dough, I Dough.” The name change is to commemorate the landmark decision from the United States Supreme Court making same-sex marriage a basic right for all Americans. The company is known for taking a stance with its values, and has demonstrated a strong advocacy for gay rights and marriage equality seizing numerous opportunities throughout its 37 year history.
I Dough, I Dough will be available in a special commemorative pint sleeve at participating scoop shops for a limited time. The commemorative pint sleeves can also be purchased online through the Human Rights campaign site, with all proceeds benefiting the organization.
Unilever’s Good Humor has brought back its iconic fleet of ice cream trucks with a new sampling tour. The company is asking customers to follow Twitter rather than chase the classic clang of ice cream truck bells to get their ice cream fix. The "Welcome to Joyhood" tour will make stops throughout the Northeast this summer as the 95-year-old brand seeks to update its mobile selling tactics for the contemporary age. Consumers can summon the truck by tweeting @GoodHumor as it makes stops in New York City, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. and Boston. And instead of playing a classic jingle, the truck will blast pop music and rock 'n' roll.
