With the ability to simulate the widest range of retort processes of any university lab, three retorts will be used to evaluate new retort packaging materials and shelf-stable food formulations, conduct pilot tests for food and pet food companies, study the effects of retort processes on food products, and train students and industry personnel on the latest retort processing equipment and software, Clemson stated.

The Dairy Research Institute challenged college students nationwide to develop a dairy-based beverage that provides tangible innovation opportunities for the dairy industry and aligns with beverage growth areas. The top three teams were honored at the American Dairy Science Association (ADSA) Annual meeting in Phoenix.
