Specialty packaging market expected to grow significantly for the remainder of the decade.

PMMI established the Mark C. Garvey scholarship to honor the memory of Mark Garvey, former president and CEO of the Garvey Corporation, past chairman of PMMI, and long-time supporter of packaging education.

As the packaging industry and packaging machines continue to evolve, so do customer needs when it comes to training and knowledge transfer. Advanced robot technology, multiple format changes, 3D printing in production, digital control systems, data-driven error analysis – the demands placed on production managers, machine operators and other skilled workers have increased considerably through digitalisation and automation.

Located within driving distance of key manufacturing cities and a mere two-hour flight from 80 percent of the U.S. population, PACK EXPO Southeast will harness all the power of the PACK EXPO portfolio of trade shows, directed at the robust southeast market. 

Each year the PMMI Foundation provides over $200,000 in academic scholarships to students attending PMMI Education Partners. Since its inception in 1998, the PMMI Foundation has given more than $2.6 million to strengthen the workforce within the packaging and processing industry. 

The Silent Auction took place in conjunction with the 2022 PMMI Annual Meeting (Sept. 12-14; Chicago) and raised money through bids and donations both online and in person, with a live component held during the event.

PMMI On the Rise winners meet the following nomination criteria: young professional 35 years old or younger employed by a PMMI member company for at least one year, displays leadership potential at the company, and demonstrates a desire to advance his/her career in packaging and processing.

The event is designed for new hires and newcomers to the flexible packaging industry with fewer than five years of industry experience. 

This year’s honorees are Jean-Jacques Graffin, Rebecca Oesterle, Pierre Pienaar, and E. Jeffrey Rhodehamel.
