A brand new state-of-the-art innovation center is set to become the epicenter for Arla’s product development for the entire world. Located in Aarhus, Denmark it will employ 120 people as Arla looks to invest over a quarter of a billion DKK in its construction. The aim is for Arla to become one of the leading dairy innovators in the world.

Golden State Foods (GSF), Irvine, Calif., said on Wednesday it acquired a controlling interest in KanPak U.S., Arkansas City, Kan. KanPak produces a variety of dairy-based products such as smoothies, ice cream, milk shake base, packaged milk, coffees, creamers, frozen desserts and specialty beverages using aseptic processing technology.

Clover Organic Farms said it received non-GMO verification for eight milk and cream products. The family-owned and -operated dairy processor based in Petaluma, Calif., received the verification for eight of its organic dairy products from the Non-GMO Project.

Yoplait yogurt products contributed to a first-quarter sales increase at Minneapolis-based General Mills. Net sales rose 8% to $4.37 billion in the quarter ended Aug. 25, with new businesses contributing 5 percentage points of the growth, according to the company. 

Darigold Inc., Seattle, disputed the assertion made by the Teamsters today that it walked out of federal mediation talks late Monday night. Darigold General Counsel and Senior Vice President Steven Rowe told Dairy Foods that some members of the dairy cooperative's team did leave the meeting but continued to participate by telephone after they arrived home. Rowe said the bargaining session lasted from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
