Some butter manufacturers note an increase in sales, while others are adding to inventory levels. Unsteady pricing has some manufacturers concerned, reports the USDA’s Dairy Market News.
In the refrigerated juice category, orange juice takes a hit. There are a few bright segments, namely veggie juice cocktails, juice and drink smoothies, and lemonade.
Americans have cut back on their purchases of yogurt, cream cheese, sour cream and cottage cheese. The only bright spot in the category is refrigerated dips. Unit sales of dairy and nondairy dips rose 3.8%.

New yogurt products from Chobani, Dannon and General Mills (Yoplait) were among the 10 best new products to hit retail shelves in 2014, according to IRI.
Though overall milk sales are still struggling, whole milk brings good news. Unit sales are up and dollar sales are growing faster than those of skim/low-fat milk.
