A panel of trendspotters selected by the show organizer named chocolate teas, seaweed chips, and truffle ketchup as representative of a larger trend towards "thoughtful indulgence." The Specialty Food Association says sriracha (a fiery Thai chili sauce) was one of the biggest flavor trends. It is used in snacks, chocolates and jams.
 

Unilever's Breyers brand is rolling out four flavors under the name Breyers Gelato Indulgences. To show off the gelato, sauce and toppings, Breyers packages the product in a clear 28.5-ounce tub. 

Friendly's Ice Cream, Willbraham, Mass., also announced new breakfast, lunch and dinner meals, many of which contain dairy foods. 

Researchers from Washington State University, Pullman, found that organic milk contains significantly higher concentrations of heart-healthy fatty acids compared to milk from cows on conventionally managed dairy farms.

Rockin' Refuel Lean Builder, a high-protein milk from Phoenix, Ariz.-based milk processor Shamrock Farms, received the most votes in Dairy Foods' 2013 Best New Dairy Products poll. The milk was one of 25 dairy foods and beverages nominated by the editorial staff of Dairy Foods.
