Fal Foods USA opened a manufacturing plant in Queens, New York to produce DF Mavens nondairy desserts. Unilever’s Breyers started offering 36 gluten-free ice cream varieties in May. Mayfield Dairy, Birmingham, Ala., received the Dean Foods CEO Quality Award for ice cream. 

Hiland Dairy Foods Co., Umpqua Dairy Products Co., and Galliker Dairy Co. took the top Quality Chekd honors in dairy excellence, plant performance and marketing, respectively, at the 2013 QCS Leadership Conference last month in New Orleans. 

The Evanston, Ill.-based company will receive the Tom Camerlo Exporter of the Year award from Dairy Foods at USDEC's October annual meeting.
