Chobani is exporting Greek yogurt to Singapore, Malaysia and Panama. The New Berlin, N.Y.-based dairy processor also has a plant in Idaho and currently sells in Australia, where it has a third manufacturing facility.

California Dairies Inc. (CDI), Visalia, Calif., the state's largest dairy processing cooperative, announced on Feb. 28 that it will increase its processing capacity with the addition of a third evaporator at its Visalia plant.
Global dairy markets are cyclical, so as conditions turn next year, it may be more challenging for U.S. suppliers to defend the share they gained in 2013. USDEC's Alan Levitt identifies five things to keep an eye on that could shape the market outlook.
Agri-Mark has demonstrated a long-time commitment to the export of dairy foods, including high-value cheese for the retail and foodservice markets, whey and permeate products, and nonfat dry milk. The cooperative trades with more than 30 countries.

Dairy Foods has selected Agri-Mark Inc., a dairy cooperative based in Lawrence, Mass., the 2013 Exporter of the Year. The magazine will present the Tom Camerlo Exporter of the Year award to the company at the annual meeting of the U.S. Dairy Export Council in Chicago in October.
Darigold and Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association have a contract to sell Cheddar, Gouda and Monterey Jack and butter.

Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association and Northwest Dairy Association (Darigold) will sell 3.296 million pounds of Cheddar, Gouda and Monterey Jack cheese and 493,284 pounds of butter to customers in Asia and Europe.
“We expect dairy consumption across ASEAN-6 to grow by 2.4% per year through to 2020,” says a Rabobank analyst.

Rabobank says that dairy trade flows into the ASEAN-6 region (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam) surpassed 1.6 million tonnes in 2012, equating to a 5.5 billion dollar export opportunity for producers. The region is one of the few remaining dairy battlegrounds, and the current boom in demand has triggered intense competition between international producers.

Owing to the drastic growth of imports, China will implement the new “Test, Quarantine and Supervision Methods for Import and Export of Dairy Products” beginning in May. There is a strengthened test, quarantine and supervision over the importation of dairy products, which are intended to improve the overall quality level of imported products.
The USDA says conventional bottled milk demand is slow to redevelop after the holidays, although some Southeast areas indicate say outdoor dining is augmenting demand.
