Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, founders of Ben & Jerry's, are interested in buying back the ice cream brand from Unilever plc, according to a Bloomberg report.

Unilever previously stated it planned to spin off the Ben & Jerry's business into its own company. Cohen and Greenfield would likely need financial backers to make a bid, according to the report, as the business is worth several billion dollars, the report stated, which has been picked up by many media outlets.

Cohen and Greenfield started the Burlington, Vt.-based company in 1978, and agreed to sell Ben & Jerry’s to Unilever in 2000 for $326 million.
