Clementine’s Naughty & Nice Ice Cream will release a limited-edition collection in July, inspired by the 120th Anniversary of the World’s Fair in St. Louis.
The microcreamery has collaborated with the Missouri History Museum as the official ice cream partner for its new 1904 World’s Fair Exhibit, which showcases the cultural history and impact of the fair and is the inspiration behind the four-pint collection. Flavors are reminiscent of the historical exhibition, including Banana Split, Split, Meet Me in St. Louis, Louis, Vegan Waffle Cone-a-Copia, and Fairy Floss.
The collection can be purchased for a limited time online starting Monday, July 1, or in person at one of its eight scoop shop locations in the St. Louis and Illinois areas on National Ice Cream Day, Sunday, July 21, only.
“The 1904 World’s Fair is deeply ingrained in St. Louis’ culture. I wanted to honor the city that Clementine’s originated in by incorporating one of the world’s greatest historical events into a month, and day, that means so much to our brand. There was so much innovation that came out of the World’s Fair, from the invention of cotton candy, or “fairy floss,” to the year banana splits became an iconic American dessert. The ice cream cone was also widely popularized at the fair, so we have big ice cream origins in St. Louis to pay tribute to,” Tamara Keefe, founder of Clementine's, said. “As Clementine’s continues to grow nationally, we wanted to recognize the city and communities that helped our brand grow to where it is now. As National Ice Cream Month approaches, we want all our customers, both here in St. Louis and nationwide, an opportunity to celebrate with these nostalgic, historic flavors.”
The flavors are as follows:
- Banana Split, Split | Available for a Limited Time ($12): Since the invention of the Banana Split sundae in 1904, the dessert has become a staple in diners across America. Clementine’s reinvents the classic treat with three flavors hand-piped in a marbled pattern so that each pint has a bite of nostalgia in every scoop. This ice cream offers a trio of flavors with combinations of cherry, milk chocolate, and banana as a nod to the timeless treat .
- Meet Me in St. Louis, Louis | Available for a Limited Time ($12): Meet Me in St. Louis, Louis is a nod to the Missouri Corn Palace display at the World’s Fair, and the cereal boom in the early 1900s. The ice cream is a sweet corn base that captures the essence of summertime bliss. Each scoop is adorned with clusters of crunchy, buttered cornflakes, adding a delightful contrast of textures.
- Vegan Waffle Cone-a-Copia | Available for a Limited Time ($15): The waffle cone was popularized at the World’s Fair, said to be a creation of necessity as an ice cream vendor ran out of dishes and a fellow vendor rolled up a waffle-like pastry for them to use. Vegan Waffle Cone-a-Copia celebrates the invention with a rich caramel coconut ice cream intertwined with crunchy waffle cone nuggets, enveloped in luscious dark chocolate bark, and sprinkled with delicate flake salt.
- Fairy Floss | Available for a Limited Time ($12): Debuted at the World’s Fair, “fairy floss,” now known as cotton candy, was a huge success and innovative dessert. Fairy Floss is a nod to the popular treat with a balance of the airiness and whimsical flavors of traditional cotton candy mixed with the velvety finish of malt.
