Get ready for a new event from the American Dairy Products Institute (ADPI). The Global Ingredients Summit is coming to the Peppermill Reno in Reno, Nev., from March 11 to 13.

According to Kimberlee (K.J.) Burrington, vice president of Technical Development for Elmhurst, Ill.-based ADPI, the Global Ingredients Summit combines two of ADPI’s signature ADPI events — the Global Cheese Technology Forum and the Dairy Ingredient Technical Symposium — into one premier event.

“The event will showcase the latest research and technology development in cheese, milk, and whey ingredients, all in one conference,” Burrington tells Dairy Foods. “Since this is our main technical event, we are inviting students to submit abstracts for poster presentations.”

Speaking of students, they will be presenting their posters in the exhibition hall. “The students will also be entered to win a spot in the student research competition, which will give them an opportunity to present their project live during a plenary session,” Burrington notes. “Dairy industry research and development, quality assurance, and operations people are encouraged to attend so they stay up-to-date on the latest research and technology. Vendors that support the dairy industry are also encouraged to attend and exhibit their latest technologies.”

Specific topics presented at the Global Ingredients Summit will include new and emerging technologies in processing, ingredient customization, applications, markets, regulatory, nutrition, and more.

“Two of the morning plenary sessions will feature panels on Sustainability Leadership in Dairy Manufacturing and another on Biotechnology and the Future of Dairy,” ADPI’s vice president of Technical Development reveals. “Afternoon concurrent sessions will showcase cheese, milk, and whey ingredient research, so there should be something for everyone.”

The allure of Reno

The Global Ingredients Summit is set to take place at the Peppermill Reno. According to Burrington, the “Biggest Little City in the World” was selected as the site of the event because it was the traditional location for ADPI’s Global Cheese Technology Forum.

“Global Cheese was designed to attract researchers and cheese companies from the Northwest because it gave them an opportunity to showcase their research in that region. The Global Ingredients Summit will feature speakers from the United States, Canada, and Europe,” she notes.   “The Peppermill is a resort and casino, so it will have all the typical attractions that casinos have.”

As always, ADPI’s event will offer plenty of time for attendees to network during lunches and breaks in the exhibit hall and during two evening receptions.

“This event will bring industry and academia together and serve as a launching point for future innovation in the dairy industry,” Burrington relays. “Attendees can meet their future innovators by attending student poster presentations and learn about dairy research presented by academic and industry experts from across the country.”

Members of the dairy industry can learn more about the Global Ingredients Summit and register by visiting ADPI’s website, www.adpi.org. All the event details are listed under ADPI’s Events page.
