Tony Rice, trade policy manager for the U.S. Dairy Export Council (USDEC) and the National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF), joins us for Episode 27 of the “Let’s Talk Dairy” podcast, where he discusses supply chain challenges.
Rice works to advance the development, implementation, and communication of the dairy industry’s work to support policies that promote U.S. dairy exports, to seek the removal of policies that impede those exports, and to address foreign barriers to U.S. dairy sales. He also serves as the organization’s lead on export supply chain issues and manager for the Consortium for Common Food Names (CCFN), an independent, international organization committed to the protection of generic food and beverage terms.
Rice grew up on a dairy farm in central Pennsylvania and has an undergraduate degree in agribusiness management from Penn State and a master’s degree in applied economics from Johns Hopkins.
In this podcast, Rice discusses:
- The state of today’s supply chain. Have conditions improved since 2021?
- The biggest supply chain challenges the dairy industry faces.
- In 2022, agricultural and dairy exports reached record levels. What has the industry done well recently to promote U.S. dairy exports?
- The major U.S. dairy export challenges that remain today and how to alleviate these issues.
