U.S. International Trade Commission begins investigation of 3-A counterfeits
Five Chinese companies were accused of importing counterfeit equipment.
The U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) announced it will institute an investigation of certain food processing equipment and packaging materials based on a complaint filed by 3-A Sanitary Standards Inc. (SSI), McLean, Va., on June 3, 2019. According to 3-A SSI, the complaint alleges certain companies violated section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 by importing into the United States and selling food processing equipment and packaging materials through false advertising and unfair competition under Section 43(a) of the Lanham Act.
3-A SSI said its complaint requested that the USITC issue an exclusion order against food processing equipment imported from China into the U.S. that bears a counterfeit 3-A Symbol or that has falsely advertised meeting 3-A Sanitary Standards.
