The American Dairy Products Institute (ADPI), a trade association representing U.S. manufacturers and marketers of dairy ingredients, said David L. Thomas will retire as CEO effective June 30, 2018.
Thomas joined ADPI in February 2012 as the organization's CEO. Under his leadership, the institute has grown through a 71% increase in membership and a continued focus on making the organization the "go-to" authority on dairy ingredients, Elmhurst, Ill.-based ADPI said.
Thomas created the ADPI Center of Excellence, a network of dairy industry professionals that reflects ADPI's commitment to provide members with reliable, meaningful and useful information. In addition, he expanded the organization's strong voice and leadership throughout the dairy ingredients sector, ADPI said.
"Dave has expertly piloted ADPI to significant growth and success during his tenure," said Jerry O'Dea, ADPI president. "Under his leadership, he has continued to transform ADPI into a dairy ingredient standards leader and significantly expanded member value. Every step of the way, Dave has displayed exceptional leadership and unquestionable commitment to ADPI's success."
A search committee of the ADPI board of directors was created and is currently conducting a thorough process to identify Mr. Thomas's replacement
"It has been an honor to lead this organization,” Thomas stated. “ADPI has a 90-plus-year legacy of delivering meaningful value to our members and the dairy ingredients industry. I am confident that ADPI will continue its growth trajectory as the board of directors and staff build on our strong foundation of success."
