Lifeway Farmer Cheese
Lifeway, Morton Grove, Ill., introduced farmer cheese (a low-fat, low-calorie cultured soft cheese) blended with fruit in 5-ounce single-serve cups. The company said farmer cheese is spoonable like cottage cheese and yogurt, but has the spreadable quality of cream cheese. The company sells the cheese cups in small-batch organic and non-organic varieties, in flavors such as strawberry rosehip, blueberry lavender and peach. The blueberry lavender flavor contains 110 calories, 1 gram of fat, 9 grams of sugar and 14 grams of protein. The farmer cheese is available nationwide for a suggested retail price of $2.29-$2.49 per cup for organic and $1.99-$2.29 per cup for non-organic.
