Saxon Cheese, Schreiber Foods, Double Rainbow Ice Cream take top honors in dairy contest
The dairy contest received 1,130 entries from dairy processors throughout North America.

Saxon Cheese LLC, Cleveland, Wis., was selected as the Cheese and Butter Grand Champion, Schreiber Foods, Green Bay, Wis., was selected as the Grade A Grand Champion and Double Rainbow Ice Cream, San Francisco, was the Ice Cream Grand Champion of the World Dairy Expo Championship Dairy Product Contest.
Judging was held this week in Madison, Wis., at the Alliant Center and at Babcock Hall at the University of Wisconsin.
The contest received 1,130 entries from dairy processors throughout North America who submitted cheese, butter, fluid milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, ice cream, sour cream, sherbet, cultured milk, sour cream dips, whipping cream, dried whey and creative or innovative products. The number of entries set a record, according to the contest sponsor, the Wisconsin Dairy Products Association.
All category first-place winners will be auctioned off on Oct. 4 during the World Dairy Expo in Madison. A portion of the proceeds from the auction are used to fund various scholarships, which are awarded to students pursuing careers in the dairy industry.
