Chobani, Norwich, N.Y., is moving beyond the yogurt aisle for the first time with its launch of Chobani Mezé Dips, a savory Greek yogurt dip line. The dips will roll out in stores in June and will be sold in four varieties:
- Roasted Red Pepper (a sweet and slightly hot mix of fire roasted peppers.)
- Three-Pepper Salsa (blend of green peppers, chili peppers & jalapeno peppers with tomatoes and herbs.)
- Chili Lime (a thick, tangy blend of lime and light spice, with notes of ranch-style herb.)
- Smoked Onion Parmesan (a smoky mix that combines onions with the rich, nuttiness of Parmesan cheese.)
The dips are made using only natural and non-GMO ingredients. The creation of the dips is inspired from Turkish-born, Hamdi Ulukaya, Chobani founder and CEO as well as curated creations of the Chobani SoHo Café, a one-of-a-kind Mediterranean café in New York City. This new product is crafted in the tradition of Mediterranean "mezé," a Turkish term for a tasty, flavorful snack, with recipes that blend everyday tastes with artisanal palates, offering an everyday snacking option, according to the company.
The dips feature real veggies, herbs and spices blended with Greek yogurt. A 1-tablespoon serving contains 25 calories, 1 gram of fat, 1 gram of sugar and 3 grams of protein. The dips will be sold in a 10-ounce container for a suggested retail price of $3.99. The new line will become available nationwide in June and can be found in the chilled deli aisle at grocery stores. Retailers will include Wal-Mart and Kroger (which will begin stocking the dips in August). Learn more about availability and the product here.
The company has also jumped on the drinkable yogurt trend that’s picking up speed in the cultured dairy market and filling the need for portable protein with its new Drink Chobani. The on-the-go Greek yogurt beverage will hit stores (including Walmart) nationwide in July and will be available in four varieties:
- Strawberry Banana
- Apple Cucumber Spinach
- Mango
- Mixed Berry
The yogurt beverage is made with only natural ingredients, including real fruit and probiotics, and contains 14 grams of protein per bottle. The yogurt drinks will be sold in 10-ounce plastic bottles for a suggested retail price of $2.19.
