HP Hood LLC, based in Lynnfield, Mass., introduced a milk beverage called MilkWise, available in New England and upstate New York. The beverage contains fewer calories, less sugar and more calcium than traditional milk, according to the company.
An 8-ounce serving of the original milk beverage has 70 calories, 8 grams of sugar and contains 45% calcium. Compare that to your typical 2% milk, which has 130 calories, 12 grams of sugar and 30% calcium. It also contains no artificial sweeteners.
The drink comes in three varieties — original, vanilla and reduced-sugar vanilla. It’s available at grocery retailers around New England and Upstate New York for a suggested retail price of $2.99.
