Legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus partnered with Minnesota-based The Schwan Food Co. to create a new line of premium ice cream bearing his name. Schwan is manufacturing the ice cream.
The ice cream hit stores in March and is sold in pints. It’s available in seven flavors: warm spiced butter pecan, chocolate peanut butter swirl, salted caramel toffee, strawberry lemonade, triple chocolate, coffee and donuts and homemade vanilla.
The suggested retail price for the pints is $1.99. The ice cream is currently available in select retail stores, like Winn Dixie, Bi-Lo and Kroger, in the southeast region.
“It’s no secret that I love ice cream,” Nicklaus said in a press release. “Needless to say, I have never had so much fun in the research and development of a product.”
For this initial launch and pilot program, Schwan Food Company made a donation to the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation. The Foundation’s goal is to provide families access to world-class pediatric healthcare. Beyond the ice cream pilot program in 2015, the Nicklaus family hopes to tie in other children’s charities to sales of the product.
According to a Schwan representative, the goal is to make the ice cream line available nationwide in retail stores in early 2016.
