July is National Ice Cream Month and many ice cream companies and processors have a slew of events and promotions taking place all summer to celebrate.
Baskin-Robbins celebrates with free waffle cones
Baskin-Robbins, Canton, Mass., is kicking off National Ice Cream Month with a free waffle cone offer and a variety of frozen treats featuring Oreo cookies. Running now until the end of the year, customers can upgrade their double scoop of ice cream with a free freshly baked waffle cone. The new Flavor of the Month for July features cake-flavored ice cream, Oreo cookie pieces and a chocolate cake batter ribbon.
Good Humor and Talenti Gelato spread joy and ice cream across New York
Good Humor, a Unilever brand, Englewood Cliffs, N.J., is kicking off summer and celebrating its role as the official ice cream of the New York Mets by teaming up with team mascots Mr. and Mrs. Met and SNY for a special tour in the city.
Its first stop on its summer tour was June 24, where the classic ice cream brand unveiled the Good Humor "Joy Fleet" — consisting of the Good Humor Truck, Good Humor "Joy Ride" pedicabs and the iconic Good Humor Man himself — on the plaza outside the SNY Studios in Rockefeller Center West. The event served up free frozen treats and awarded tickets and baseball prize packs to select event attendees.
The Good Humor Joy Fleet will travel through the neighborhoods of New York City all summer, showing up at events, local retailers, local businesses and some unexpected places. Through the Joy Fleet, Good Humor expects to distribute thousands of frozen treats and offer thousands of Joy Rides to New Yorkers this season.

Talenti Gelato opens pop-up store in New York
Talenti Gelato & Sorbetto, Minneapolis, opened a pop-up store in Bryant Park in New York in conjunction with its official sponsorship of the HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival.
Through Oct. 15, the store will be selling Talenti gelato by the scoop and Talenti Gelato Pops to park guests and Film Festival attendees.
The Talenti Pop-Up, located off of 40th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. It will rotate its flavor offerings throughout the summer, from Sea Salt Caramel to Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip to Mediterranean Mint Pops and more.
Consumers can find Talenti's packaged gelatos and sorbettos at major retailers nationwide at a suggested retail price of $4.99 to $5.99.
Blue Bunny supports Make-A-Wish with online promotion
Blue Bunny, a Wells Enterprises Inc. brand, Le Mars, Iowa, is continuing its alliance with Make-A-Wish in 2014. Since the start of the relationship in 2013, Blue Bunny has helped Make-A-Wish grant more than 100 wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. Consumers can help by creating an online "Wish Card" at BlueBunny.com/Wishes. For every online "Wish Card" fans create, Blue Bunny will donate one dollar to Make-A-Wish, up to $50,000.

Senators, Representatives get social on Capitol Hill with ice cream
The International Dairy Foods Association got a jump on National Ice Cream Month on June 26 when it sponsored its 32nd Annual Capitol Hill Ice Cream Party in Washington, D.C. IDFA invited members of Congress, their families and staffs.
The party dished up about 2,000 gallons of ice cream and frozen yogurt, 6,000 root beer floats and 44 cases of sundae toppings. The ice cream party was sponsored by the IDFA’s constituent organizations: the Milk Industry Foundation and the National Cheese Institute.

Hood’s blimp returns in a partnership with the Boston Red Sox
Lynnfield, Mass.-based HP Hood announced the annual return of its iconic Hood Blimp for the 2014 summer season. New this year, the Blimp will prominently feature the Boston Red Sox logo on one side of the airship, marking the first time another logo has joined the Hood logo over the skies of New England. The joint logos mark Hood’s partnership of more than a decade with the Red Sox, along with the company’s support of the Red Sox Foundation, the official team charity of the Red Sox.
Beginning on July 7th, consumers can enter the Hood Blimp sweepstakes by submitting a photo of the Hood Blimp on the Hood Facebook page or on Twitter using #HoodBlimpSweeps for a chance to win a variety of prizes including Red Sox memorabilia.
