Organic Valley, La Farge, Wis., launched the first-ever organic milk protein shakes, according to the company. Organic Balance and Organic Fuel are now available nationwide in natural food stores, food cooperatives, major grocery chains, and LIFETIME gyms across the country.
The milk protein shakes get their protein from real organic milk — not protein powders. The shakes are designed for an on-the-go breakfast, snack or a light meal.
Both Organic Balance and Fuel have no artificial flavorings or sweeteners or GMOs, according to the company. Balance contains 16 grams of protein per 11-ounce bottle. With most of the carbohydrates coming from naturally occurring sugars in the milk, Organic Balance is minimally sweetened with organic stevia and unrefined, fair-trade, organic cane sugar. It contains 23 grams of sugar and 3.5 grams of fat per bottle. It comes in two flavors, dark chocolate and vanilla bean, with a suggested retail price of $2.89 each or $10.99 for a 4-pack.
Organic Fuel is a milk protein recovery shake that contains 26 grams of protein per 11-ounce bottle. In addition to the naturally occurring milk sugars, only organic and fair-trade unrefined cane sugar is added to balance the protein. It contains 26 grams of sugar and 6 grams of fat per bottle. It comes in two flavors, chocolate and vanilla, with a suggested retail price of $3.89 each or $14.99 for a 4-pack.
Like all Organic Valley products, the new milk shakes are made with USDA certified organic ingredients. Both organic milk protein shakes are made with organic milk from pasture-raised cows. The milks are also gluten- and lactose-free.
