Yuba City, Calif.-based cooperative Sunsweet, a marketer of prunes, specifically dried fruits and fruit juices, introduced new Greek-style PlumSweets. Coming off its launch of PlumSweets dark chocolate, its new Greek yogurt variety combines the same chewy inside of diced dried plums with a Greek yogurt coating.
The Greek-style treats are available in six-ounce resealable bags, with a suggested retail price of $3.99.
"Nearly one quarter of Americans report eating more Greek yogurt this year compared to last," said Jeff McLemore, vice president of North America marketing for Sunsweet. "People are looking for their favorite brands to incorporate Greek yogurt into the foods they already love. We put a modern and healthier twist on Greek yogurt with Greek Style PlumSweets."
The plum treats contain 180 calories per ¼ cup serving.
The new Sunsweet product is currently available in test markets in Northern California and the East Coast at retailers including A&P, Ahold, Giant Eagle and Raley's.
