Woolwich Dairy, Lancaster, Wis., launched its “Wholesome Goat” Fresh Chèvre line at this week’s Fancy Food Show in San Francisco, Calif.
According to the company, the new goat cheese is lower in sodium and fat, and free of fillers and preservatives. It’s available in two flavors — Plain ‘N’ Simple and Big Kick Herb & Garlic, the latter of which won an American Cheese Society award. The Big Kick Herb & Garlic flavor contains 40 calories, 2 grams of fat and 4 grams of protein per 1-ounce serving. Each serving contains 75 milligrams of sodium.
The packaging is illustrated with bright colors and a whimsical design to go along with the playful flavor names. The 8-ounce recyclable tub has a suggested retail price of $5.99.
