Prairie Farms Dairy Inc. has added a new flavor — Lactose Free Vanilla Almond Milk — to its line of Lactose Free Milks, which were introduced in February. The Vanilla Almond Milk joins the Fat-Free Milk with Calcium, Fat-Free Milk, 2% Reduced-Fat Milk and Vitamin D Whole Milk offerings.
Like the rest of the line, the Lactose Free Vanilla Almond Milk is real milk, but without the lactose. The product is fat-free, ultra-pasteurized and comes from cows not treated with artificial growth hormones. It contains the same nine essential nutrients as regular milk and 80 calories per one cup serving.
The company said they recognize that many lactose intolerant consumers have stopped drinking real milk, and instead are consuming non-dairy alternative beverages – including almond and soy. The almond milk is its solution to bring those consumers back into the dairy category.
Beginning April 10th, the new Vanilla Almond Milk will be available at retail outlets throughout the Midwest. All of the lactose-free milks are sold in half-gallon containers.
Prairie Farms Dairy Inc. is a farmer-owned dairy cooperative headquartered in Carlinville, Ill.
