The RCS air sampler operates on impaction principle, drawing airborne micro-organisms onto an agar media strip for later incubation and analysis. Using a centrifugal motion, the sampler draws a sample at 40 liters per minute. It has a sampling inaccuracy of less than 2%, which allows for quantification of the number of colonies per unit volume of air. The lightweight and compact sampler has a rugged housing made of chrome-plated brass with an autoclavable, aluminum impeller blade and drum.
