When NFL football kicks off this fall, Sargento Foods and the Green Bay Packers will once again help fight hunger. Through the "touchdowns for charity," program, Sargento will donate $1,000 to $2,000 to the Wisconsin Hunger Task Force each time the Pack scores a touchdown. During the 2005 season the program raised $167,000.
What's in a Name
WestFarm Foods, the largest full-line dairy in the Pacific Northwest, has gone back to using its Darigold brand name as its company name. Headquartered in Seattle, Darigold, Inc. is the marketing and processing subsidiary of the Northwest Dairy Association, which is owned by more than 600 dairy producers throughout the Northwest.
Lifeway Splits
Kefir maker Lifeway Foods announced in June that it plans to execute a two-for-one split of its common stock. If it receives board approval, the company would amend its charter to increase the number of Lifeway common shares from 10 million to 20 million.
Haines Award
The California Dairy Research Foundation (CDRF) is accepting nominations for the William C. Haines Dairy Science Award honoring individuals who work in support of dairy science. Nomination forms for the 2007 award, which are due by Sept. 22, are currently available atwww.cdrf.org.
