Bruce Tharp was to be honored with a lifetime award at IDFA's Ice Cream Technology Conference early this month. Tharp, who along with Steve Young, writes a quarterly column forDairy Foods, has been a part of the industry for more than 40 years.
IDFA's V.P. of Regulatory Affairs, Cary Frye, says the idea for the recognition came from one of Tharp's colleagues, Douglas Goff at the University of Guelph. She added that the association and its International Ice Cream Assn. took to the suggestion immediately due to Tharp's contributions to the industry as a whole and to the conference over the years.
