Oberweis Dairy, North Aurora, Ill., launches milk & coffee blends in single-serve, 12-oz PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles. Oberweis is best known for its home delivery service of premium milk, ice cream, various dairy products and other foods throughout Chicago, Northwestern Indiana, Central Illinois and St. Louis. The company also operates 26 retail dairy shops. The new reduced-fat milk drinks come in French Vanilla and Mocha Cappuccino flavors and have a 21-day refrigerated shelflife.
Ye Olde Mill, Ohio-based Velvet Ice Cream Co., a four-generation family-owned business, has teamed up with neighbor Longaberger Co., Frazeysburg, Ohio, makers of handcrafted baskets, to market Maple Caramel Walnut Ice Cream. For three years, this ice cream flavor was available exclusively to visitors of the Longaberger Homestead, now the companies have joined forces and the product is available through retail outlets. Longaberger identifies with the maple base, as all of its baskets are constructed from maple wood.

A new ice cream cone novelty rolled out this summer by Byrne Dairy Inc., Syracuse, N.Y. The Cookies 'n Cream Sundae Cone is made with cookies 'n cream ice cream tucked in a chocolate-coated, chocolate-flavored cone and topped with a blend of chocolate swirls and cookie crumbles.
