In March of 1965, Johnson Truck Bodies announced the addition of retail milk delivery bodies to its product line. Thirty-eight years later, at the International Home Delivery Association meeting (which Johnson is a member of), it repeated that announcement. The company has not produced any retailers since 1976. However, when one of the last body companies to manufacture this type of equipment closed its doors, Johnson began receiving requests for this body style. Those requests, (coupled with the resurgence of home delivery of milk and Johnson's past experience in this arena), prompted the company to once again embark on the manufacture of retailers. The first units are due to roll off the production line later this summer. Johnson features a full line of route truck bodies, including dual-purpose units for milk and ice cream as pictured here.
