In a board meeting room dominated by a framed oil painting of his great grandfather, Errico Auricchio tells the story about his audacious entrepreneurial dream. In 1979, he left Italy with his wife and young children to craft specialty cheeses with the same artisan methods his family had used for 100 years.
The dairy industry currently faces a number of challenges ranging from global trade obstacles to the rise of plant-based dairy alternatives. Dairy Foods asked the top executives from leading dairy associations to provide their thoughts related to current industry issues and opportunities; and to discuss how their organizations are helping members succeed in trying times.
Litehouse Inc., a Sandpoint, Idaho-based maker of dairy- and nondairy based refrigerated salad dressings (RSD), said its board of directors promoted Kelly Prior to the position of president and CEO, effective immediately.
At first glance, it seems that milk hasn't been dealt the best hand. But the beverage isn't considering folding: While purchasing numbers have declined in recent years, it's still present in 91% of American households, according to the September 2019 "Eating Trends: Meat, Dairy, Vegetarian, and Vegan" report from the Packaged Facts division of Rockville, Md.-based MarketResearch.com.
The company, which is celebrating its 125th anniversary, partnered with No Kid Hungry.

This October, USDA announced plans to purchase an additional $50 million in fresh fluid milk with Section 32 authority, further increasing support to the nation’s dairy industry when uncertainty with trade and low prices have created challenges for farmers and processors, said the Washington, D.C.-based International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA).
Allison Thirion, a Cleveland School District dietitian, will receive a $10,000 grant to support her initiative.
