Milk production across the nation is trending higher along the seasonal trend, according to the USDA's Dairy Market News report for the week ended Jan. 17. Improved weather conditions in most regions of the country have been beneficial to milk production, especially in the Upper Midwest and Northeast, where temperatures have returned towards their seasonal norms.
A milk processor moved from a 90-year-old operation into a newer facility in Kent, Wash. Smith Brothers Farms made the most of the space, designing process areas for efficiency, safety and future growth.
The expansion includes additional capabilities on an existing 40-pound natural American-style cheese production line, and improvements to a variety of processes to better serve domestic and international customers.
