The magazine nominated 13 dairy processing plants that manufacture fluid milk, cheese, ice cream or cultured dairy products. All had been featured in Dairy Foods magazine and on dairyfoods.com over the previous 18 months.
“We expect dairy consumption across ASEAN-6 to grow by 2.4% per year through to 2020,” says a Rabobank analyst.

Rabobank says that dairy trade flows into the ASEAN-6 region (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam) surpassed 1.6 million tonnes in 2012, equating to a 5.5 billion dollar export opportunity for producers. The region is one of the few remaining dairy battlegrounds, and the current boom in demand has triggered intense competition between international producers.

IDFA says the Goodlatte-Scott amendment will provide an effective and expanded safety net for dairy farmers. A disappointed NMPF calls the amendment 'an effort to ensure that dairy processors get a government-insured supply of cheap milk.'

Recent studies found organic foods are no more nutritious than conventionally grown varieties. But some consumers buy organic products to avoid pesticides and antibiotics. Dairy brands have created new products and have branched out to new retail channels.
The frozen-yogurt chain The Country’s Best Yogurt (TCBY), Denver, said it plans to open 185 locations over the next 24 months. Key markets are Illinois, Boston, Detroit and Texas.
