E. Linwood Tipton, the former president of the International Dairy Foods Association, has died at age 78. Known to all as Tip, Mr. Tipton was the president and CEO of the Milk Industry Foundation and the International Ice Cream Manufacturers Association. In 1990, he pulled together the Milk Industry Foundation, the National Cheese Institute, and the International Ice Cream Association to form the IDFA.

Golden State Foods (GSF), Irvine, Calif., said on Wednesday it acquired a controlling interest in KanPak U.S., Arkansas City, Kan. KanPak produces a variety of dairy-based products such as smoothies, ice cream, milk shake base, packaged milk, coffees, creamers, frozen desserts and specialty beverages using aseptic processing technology.
The $40 million plant will serve a region where milk production is steadily outpacing local plant capacity.
