Ice cream companies live and die by their flavors. At Blue Bell Creameries, a product development team considers as many as 300 ideas every year before whittling them down to five to be launched in grocery and foodservice channels.
Snowville Creamery, Pomeroy, Ohio, received approval by the Ohio Department of Agriculture to label its products as coming from pastured cows fed only non-GMO (genetically modified organisms) feeds and forage.
Slowly but surely, the Texas creamery has been expanding throughout the United States. Today it sells into groceries and foodservice accounts in 23 states. A reputation for flavors and a focus on customer service helps the company grow.
Europe’s Arla Foods established a new business region in Asia. The company said it is integrating its markets in China and South East Asia in a new regional market called Business Unit Asia.

Fairlife ultra-filtered milk is rolling out nationwide now thanks to distribution from The Coca-Cola Co.'s Minute Maid division. The product is available in fat-free, reduced fat (2%), whole and chocolate reduced fat (2%) varieties.

The multinational food giant Unilever purchased Talenti Gelato & Sorbetto in December. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The purchase represents additional investment in the frozen dessert category.
Continued investment in plants, personnel and products geared specifically for exports are tangible indicators of the dairy industry’s long-term focus on developing and sustaining international markets.
