The world's largest milk powder dryer at Fonterra's Darfield, New Zealand site kicked into gear last week producing its first batches of whole milk powder which will be exported to more than 20 markets worldwide including the Middle East, China and Southeast Asia.

Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association and Northwest Dairy Association (Darigold) will sell 3.296 million pounds of Cheddar, Gouda and Monterey Jack cheese and 493,284 pounds of butter to customers in Asia and Europe.
This year’s Practical Membrane Technology Short Course (PMTSC) drew record attendance, an increase of 52% from 2012. Dairy Foods and Filtration & Membrane World LLC have partnered to produce this event for eight years.

Flavored milk consumption will grow at more than double the rate of white milk globally between 2012 and 2015. Cheese shreds in 8-ounce packs were the most featured individual item this period, appearing in 12,755 ad features. The national price averaged $2.36, up 12 cents from two weeks ago. 8-ounce blocks, at $2.43, moved 7 cents higher from two weeks ago. Schools have reopened in the Southern tier of states across the nation sending an increasing number of milk loads to bottlers to meet the increased Class I demand.
