Saputo Inc.has entered into an agreement to acquire the fluid milk activities of Scotsburn Co-Operative Services Limited based in Atlantic Canada. 

Milk production across the nation is trending higher along the seasonal trend, according to the USDA's Dairy Market News report for the week ended Jan. 17. Improved weather conditions in most regions of the country have been beneficial to milk production, especially in the Upper Midwest and Northeast, where temperatures have returned towards their seasonal norms.

After a nationwide vote, a new cartoon character helping to build awareness of the advantages of real dairy foods has a name: DairyUS.

 A milk processor moved from a 90-year-old operation into a newer facility in Kent, Wash. Smith Brothers Farms made the most of the space, designing process areas for efficiency, safety and future growth. 

Hilmar Cheese Co., said the expansion at its cheese and whey processing facility in Dalhart, Texas, is nearing completion. 

 Smith Brothers Farms, a family-owned home delivery business in Washington state, had a long list of structural issues to resolve. With those out of the way, the dairy processor can totally focus on milk processing and delighting its customers.
