Wells Enterprises shared plans for the expansion of its Dunkirk, N.Y. ice cream manufacturing facility, during a celebration event. The expansion underscores the company’s commitment to long-term growth and leadership in the ice cream category. The project was slated for a $250M investment, but the company announced that it increased to $425M and will create 270 new jobs in the Dunkirk community.
The investment includes expansion of the milk intake bays, cheese packaging equipment, whey drying and packaging equipment, whey warehousing, and wastewater treatment.

The expansion will
increase overall plant capacity to 5.5 million pounds of milk per day, an increase of 30%.
Through major expansion, First District Association readies itself for the next century. It invested $200 million to update and expand plant and product capacity so “the cooperative is set up to thrive in the next 100 years,” CEO Bob Huffman relays.
The 10,000-square-foot expansion will provide the capability to produce AMF in drums, totes and eventually pails to serve industrial and food service customers.

The ownership of Valley Milk LLC announced their intention to begin producing Anhydrous Milk Fat (AMF) at the facility in 2024.
In March, the Swiss-based multinational food giant Nestlé said it will invest over 25 million euros ($28.1 million) to expand its research and development center in Askeaton, Ireland. The enhanced facility will be located at Nestlé`s existing plant in the city, which produces a range of premium powdered milk-based products for infants, young children and mothers for export to world markets.
