Start-up and operational membrane performance review of a tubular anaerobic MBR on cheddar cheese wastewater

Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery located in Menomonie, WI will commission the beginning of 2022 a cheddar cheese production plant and a wastewater pretreatment facility. All the wastewater generated at the facility will pass through the anaerobic MBR pretreatment system before discharge to the city of Menomonie for final polishing. The anaerobic MBR utilizes tubular crossflow membranes to separate the biomass from the treated wastewater. The presentation will outline the overall treatment system, initial startup, steady state anaerobic MBR system performance and detailed membrane performance including permeability and fouling characteristics.
