Chobani President, Founder and CEO Hamdi Ulukaya was honored as a "disruptive innovator" at the fourth annual Tribeca Disruptive Innovation Awards. Food Engineering named Chobani's facility in Twin Falls, Idaho, its 2013 Plant Of The Year.

The winners of MilkPEP's Breakfast Blitz Display Contest showcased the success of the breakfast-at-home strategy in selling more milk as well as other complimentary breakfast products, including eggs, bacon, cereal and English muffins. When milk was featured in a display alongside those other items, the retailers reported notable increases.
Unilever has reduced electricity use by 13%, natural gas use by 16% and water consumption by more than 1.1 million gallons per year.

Seattle-based Darigold, the marketing and processing subsidiary of the Northwest Dairy Association, announced the completion of its new milk powder dryer at its Lynden, Wash., processing plant. A fire destroyed the dryer in February 2012.

Greek yogurt is dominating the cultured dairy category and has pushed conventional yogurt to the forefront. Other food processors use the cultured products as ingredients in snacks and cereals, and consumers use the yogurts in recipes.
Greek yogurt is leading the way in new product innovations and helping to keep yogurt on everyone’s radar. Processors continue to introduce new yogurt flavors in Greek and regular, and many are finding new ways to incorporate yogurt into other foods.
Yogurt is a bright star in the dairy firmament, and brands are seizing the opportunity. Chobani took to the air with television ads during the Oscar ceremonies. Muller Quaker Dairy expands distribution into the Midwest and Southeast.

Everybody loves yogurt: dairy farmers, dairy processors, industry vendors, retailers and consumers. Yogurt production in the United States rose 4.2% from 2011 to 2012, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
